    • the goal is to give you a lovely place to list all things in life you are looking forward to
    • Simply move the items you want to focus on currently to the "Active Investment" column (limit to 1-5 items at a time to avoid feeling overwhelmed).
    • Once you've invested energy and completed the task, move it to the "Passive Income" column and just feel in the moment (e.g. you finished planning, buying tickets, and all the stuff for a trip, and then you just need to go on the trip and enjoy!).
    • Each item can be linked to a related "Life Area" so you can track how much energy you've invested in pursuing your passions this year. All of this is conveniently located on the right side of the dashboard for easy access.

Q&A

  • What is Energy Investment Planner?
Inspired by Ali Abdaal's Youtube video, if you want to know more about how he uses this framework, you can check out here: How I Manage My Time - The System That Changed My Life https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ombpvrlglfUTo implement this in our template:The planner is divided into an "Active Investment" column for tasks you are currently focusing on and a "Passive Income" column for tasks you have completed. Each task can be linked to a "Life Area" to track how much energy you are investing in your passions.
  • What is GTD?
The GTD methodology is based on the idea of moving planned tasks and projects out of your mind and into a "trusted system" of lists and tools. This helps you to focus on what you need to do in the present moment, rather than being distracted by a constantly running to-do list in your head. The GTD methodology involves five steps: capture, clarify, organize, reflect, and engage.
    • Capture: This step involves capturing all of the tasks, ideas, and commitments that are floating around in your head and putting them into a central location, such as a notebook or an electronic task manager.
    • Clarify: In this step, you review the items you captured and decide what action is required for each one. You might need to break larger tasks down into smaller, more manageable steps.
    • Organize: Once you know what needs to be done, you organize the tasks into appropriate categories, such as work, personal, errands, etc.
    • Reflect: This step involves reviewing your task lists regularly to ensure that they are current and complete. You can also use this time to identify any potential roadblocks or opportunities.
    • Engage: In the final step, you choose the most important tasks to work on and take action on them.
The GTD methodology is designed to help you manage your time and attention more effectively so that you can be more productive and feel less overwhelmed. To implement this in our template:
    • In the capture step, you'll add tasks and ideas to a central location, such as the template's Inbox.
    • In the clarify step, you'll review the items you captured and decide on the required action for each one.
    • In the organize step, you'll categorize your tasks into appropriate categories, such as work, personal, errands, etc.
    • In the reflect step, you'll review your task lists regularly to ensure that they are current and complete.
    • In the engage step, you'll choose the most important tasks to work on and take action on them.
